#LockdownLife | Working from Home - The Journals | Sarah Shuttle Creative

I’ve worked with Sarah Shuttle Creative over the last few years and it’s a pleasure to welcome her to the blog today as part of my ‘Working from Home - The Journals’. A Web Designer & Brand Stylist, Sarah helps luxury businesses attract high-end clients and boy, does she do a good job! I’ve seen Sarah transform and elevate brands and have been lucky enough to work with her on various website copy projects. I’ll hand you straight over to this wonderful lady so you can find out what she’s been up to during lockdown…

1 So, let’s talk about life in lockdown. What time do you get up? What’s your morning routine? Has this changed since working from home / being in lockdown?

I’m a morning person. I get up usually between 5.30 and 7, and that’s stayed the same overall. I can blast through my workload by lunchtime on my most productive days - mornings are my best time!

2 How do you remain motivated while working from home?

I find it easy to remain motivated working from home because I adore my job so much, and as I say I’m pretty used to it.

3 Do you listen to any podcasts while working from home?

N/A

4 Lockdown has impacted businesses all over the world. How can people support you? E.g. #ShopSmallBusiness, sharing a post on FB, commenting on an Instagram post etc.

Commenting on my Instagram posts and generally engaging on that platform is such a welcome help!

5 Tell me one local business that you’ve decided to support during lockdown. It could be your local coffee shop, someone who hand-makes masks etc.

I bought flowers from my local florist rather than a nationwide chain company - not only do I think the quality is better anyway, but it’s so important to support local businesses as much as possible.

6 Tell me your favourite isolation cocktail / snack / treat?

Cadbury chocolate - can’t go wrong with Dairy Milk, add in some whole nut and buttons.

7 What’s your go-to ‘pick me up’ during lockdown life / working from home?

A nap! Seriously, the ability to nap changes my mood!

8 How are you keeping in touch with friends and family?

We have Zoom calls with my family and it’s lovely to see my nieces and nephews. Little Maggie is a zoom pro at age 1!

9 Name one lockdown pet peeve

Is the use of the word ‘unprecedented’ one? Haha. My biggest is people in shops not maintaining any distance at all!

10 Name one lockdown love

I personally feel less pressure to do things which has built my confidence in WANTING to do things, go places. That might not make sense…

11 What do you have in store for your business? What’s got you feeling inspired?

I am so excited for the future of my business. I’m running a scholarship this spring, I have a new collaboration in the pipeline and amazing projects on the cards.

12 What’s one thing you want to do after lockdown restrictions are lifted?

See my family.

Get my eyebrows, hair and nails done!

13 What has been your favourite Netflix series to binge on during lockdown?

Confession: I haven’t watched a single Netflix series! I’m into history documentaries that I find on YouTube more than on a subscription streaming service.

14 Are there any books on your shelf you’d recommend reading during lockdown?

For entertainment, I discovered a book called ‘The Secret by The Lake’, by Louise Douglas. LOVED it. For business I got stuck into ‘Think and Grow Rich’ which is really powerful but definitely one to concentrate on.

15 What will you take from lockdown? Is there anything you’re grateful for or that you’ll do differently going forward?

I am so so grateful for my family and friends and will appreciate being able to see people, hug people so much more than I ever have.

16 Describe lockdown for you in three words. (E.g. life-changing, emotional, challenging).

Difficult, Long... Transformational.
